An Army sergeant (Jackson) takes six of his special troops on a training mission into the rain-soaked Colombian jungles when things go horribly wrong. When the rescue mission arrives, they only find one soldier carrying a wounded comrade (Ribisi). As the investigation into the mission begins, the soldier says he will only speak to another Ranger and the commanding officer is forced to reinstate a former Ranger and current DEA agent (Travolta) who is facing charges of his own.

Soon after, they start running out of food, they loose power, and the dead start finding ways into the mall. Realizing that they are sitting ducks, the group makes a plan to head for an island by using two armored mall shuttle busses to get across the sea of zombies.

While the boys stop at nothing to achieve manhood, they wind up learning some valuable and comical lessons along the way.
