The three male leads – Harland Williams, Randal Edwards and Jay Malone – were brought closer together through their newly-discovered love of the sport.

“I grew up playing badminton,” Williams told TV Guide Canada. “I’ve played it my whole life. On my way to work I pass a badminton club. One day I stopped in there and they have all these great courts. I asked those guys if they wanted to play, and we do that two or three times a week. It’s heaven. Toronto natives the Oducado twins were declared the winners from more than 1,600 submissions for their cover of Phillip Phillips ‘Home’.

The Oducado twins will sign a singles deal with Sony Music Entertainment Canada Inc., which includes the production and distribution of a single, and a music video shoot funded by MuchFACT. Continue reading »

The Lifetime series has just finished its second season run and as yet there is no official word on a third season.

Deadline reports that the hold-up is not due to lower second season ratings but more with how producers will deal with Hewitt’s pregnancy both creatively and logistically.

Keeping Up with the Kardashians’ Scott Disick has channel Christian Bale in American Psycho for a promo for Kanye West’s upcoming album Yeezus.

Disick recreates the famous Huey Lewis and the News scene from the 2000 movie in the promo released today on West’s official website.

Corus Entertainment’s Nelvana Studio is celebrating a Daytime Emmy win.

The studio picked up the award for Outstanding Preschool Animated Program for the second season of Bubble Guppies at this week’s 40th Annual Daytime Entertainment Creative Arts Emmy Awards.

MuchMusicVideoAwards2013The 2013 MuchMusic Video Awards drew a bumper audience on Sunday night.

Nearly 900,000 viewers tuned in to the Psy-hosted ceremony, making it the number one programme in the 9-11pm ET timeslot among P12-34, P12-17, A18-34, A18-49, and females 18-49 and 18-34.

743,000 viewers saw the live broadcast with the number bumped up to 892,000 with the encore viewers added.

The 2013 MMVAs Red Carpet Special proved especially popular, with 443,000 viewers tuning in. This is a rise of 18% on last year.

PackageDealRandalEdwardRandal Edwards believes his new City sitcom Package Deal is “as close to live theatre as TV gets”.

The Calgary native is one of the stars of the new Vancouver-set comedy series, which centres on a successful young lawyer and his uncommonly-close relationship with his two brothers (Harland Williams and Jay Malone).

The series breaks from the usual single camera set-up in favour of multiple cameras and a live studio audience.

“It’s as close to live theatre as TV gets. It’s a meeting of both worlds. It’s unlike any other TV job I’ve had. It’s a unique animal,” Edwards tells the Calgary Herald. “Seeing it done with a live audience, I couldn’t see doing it any other way because you get so much from the audience itself, with instant feedback.
