CTV announced today complementary content that gives fans everything they need to participate in the race of a lifetime – including viewer prizing of up to $185,000. The customized activations and original content from BlackBerry, Air Canada, Chevrolet Canada, and Interac Association are available at beginning next Monday, July 15 to coincide with the series’ premiere that night.

newgirldamonwayansHappy Endings actor Damon Wayans Jr. will make his return to New Girl in its third season.

The actor was cast in the sitcom’s pilot prior to the second season renewal of happy Endings and had to drop out, making way for Lamorne Morris’ character Winston.

Wayans Jr. will be back in his role of Coach for a “significant” arc in the third season.

His character was cast as the original third roommate before Jess (Zooey Deschanel) moving in.

Coach was referenced occasionally during the first two seasons by the other characters.

BigBrother_Canada640Big Brother Canada has bagged two 2013 Social TV Award nominations.

The Shaw Media reality series has been nominated in the ‘Best TV Show Specific Social TV Award’ and ‘Best TV Everywhere’ categories.

Winners will be announced on Tuesday, July 16th, at a ceremony at the Bel-Air Country Club, located in Los Angeles, CA.

adamlambertGlee has booked American Idol alum Adam Lambert for its upcoming season.

Showrunner Ryan Murphy announced the news on Wednesday, saying: “I am thrilled to announce that the super talented Adam Lambert is joining the cast of Glee this fall.”

There are no details yet as to what character Lambert will be playing or whether it will be a regular or recurring role.

Lambert is a fan of the series, saying earlier this year that it “really paints a picture of what it’s like to be an arts kid in high school.” Continue reading »

TwoHalfMen2013Two and a Half Men has cast a lesbian character to play Charlie Harper’s (Charlie Sheen) illegitimate daughter.

The 21-year-old character, who is joining to somewhat replace part-timer Angus T Jones, is described as “sexy and gorgeous”.

Originally, the character will be recurring, with the possibility of an extension to a series regular.

The introduction of a gay character is a good move for the comedy and the CBS network in general, as the network was ranked last out of the major networks in terms of programming featuring gay characters.

comedy-central-roastJames Franco will be the subject of the next Comedy Central Roast.

The actor will be the centre of attention for the September 2 Roast, following the likes of Donald trump, Pamela Anderson, William Shatner and Joan Rivers in taking to the hot seat.

“I’ve dreamed about this Roast for as long as I can remember,” Franco said.

Comedy Central exec Kent Alterman joked: “If only James Franco was a more successful, multi-hyphenated, incessant creative risk taker in different media, he’d be the perfect person to roast. Oh well… I suppose we’ll just have to make do.”


californicationRobLoweRob Lowe will make a return to Californication for its seventh season.

The Parks and Recreation actor will reprise his role on the David Duchovny-series as eccentric actor Eddie Nero.

Lowe has popped up in six episodes of the series over the past few seasons and his latest appearance will fit into a storyline where he is starring in a TV show based on Hank Moody’s (Duchovny) film, Santa Monica Cop.

CITFThe Inaugural Canadian International Television Festival (CITF) will kick off on November 16 with Bell Media, the Canada Media Fund (CMF) and the Canadian Media Production Association (CMPA) on board as supporters.

The not-for-profit CITF will be the first television showcase festival in Canada and will provide a familiar platform for the public, journalists, broadcasting students, advertisers, and the industry to discover and enjoy new and returning English and French-language Canadian programs.

The CITF will also salute the diversity of the global television community, in acknowledgement of Canada’s expanding presence internationally. On the big screen at TIFF Bell Lightbox, Canada’s top cinema complex, the CITF will exhibit full episodes and retrospectives, as well as previews and other short-form content; while on-stage and on the red-carpet, fans will see cast reunions, Q&As, script readings, and other live events. HappyEndings2013The creator of the cancelled comedy series Happy Endings has not ruled out a comeback.

David Caspe says that an Arrested Development-style internet series is a possibility if no other network picks it up.

Caspe said: “I would never say never to anything. We would always be open to talking about it,” he stressed. “But the only way to move on is to move on. We have other stuff that we’ve gotta do. Who knows?”

KrisKris Jenner’s new chatshow will feature celebrity guest hosts each day.

The announcement was made this week that the show would feature multiple co-hosts throughout the summer, with Khloe Kardashian and Ryan Seacrest among them.

Others will include Kathie Lee Gifford, NeNe Leakes, Morris Chestnut and Tom Bergeron.
