Pickups, Renewals and Cancellations: 12 October 2015

Bobs Burgers has been renewed for two more seasons.

The Homefront is a half hour comedy described as Everybody Loves Raymond meets American Sniper. Loosely based on the life of writer Colleen McGuinness, whose father is a retired Green Beret, it centers on a retired Green Beret who comes back to the U.S. and moves near his grown daughter and grandkids, only to find that it’s easier to face death every day than to live in the suburbs.

Eva Longoria has sold another half hour comedy to ABC. The untitled interracial family comedy centers on an ambitious and meticulous Latino chef who runs a cafe with his unpredictable white father-in-law.

ABC has bought two other dramas. Deja Vu centers on a successful businesswoman who, after losing her husband and soulmate 22 years ago, finally gets a second chance at love. But things get complicated when, on the eve of her engagement party, she meets a man believed to be the reincarnated version of her dead husband, who happens to be dating her daughter. The Invaders is a dark, humorous soap based on the book by Karolina Waclawiak.

Minority Report has had its season order cut by 3 episodes.

Blindspot has been given a full season pickup.

Extant has been cancelled after two seasons.

CBS has signed on for a new untitled comedy about a newly retired police officer looking forward to spending more quality time with his wife and three kids, only to discover he faces much tougher challenges at home than he ever did on the streets.

Kresley Cole’s The Arcana Chronicles are the latest series of books being adapted for the small screen.

ABC has picked up the legal dramedy Negotiations about life, politics and romance in one of the world’s largest law firms.

NBC are developing a drama based on former Texas senator Wendy Davis – a female Democratic senator who, after losing the Texas governor’s race, discovers that with no political future to protect, realises she can unshackle her inner badass as she goes to work in the law firm of her best friend — a black male Republican.

Rosewood has been given an order for an additional 3 episode scripts.

Tyrant has been renewed for a third season.

Halt and Catch Fire has also been renewed for a third season.
