Canadian Vikings pairing preparing for "shocking start" to season two

Jessalyn-Gilsig_VikingsOne of the Canadian stars of History’s epic scripted series Vikings has promised a “shocking” start to the new season.

Jessalyn Gilsig says the historical series will return with a bang early next year and hints that not everyone will survive, including herself.

“The first episode [back] is really shocking,” Gilsig told TV Guide Canada. “I feel like Michael [Hirst, writer] is saying, ‘Look, we have an amazing fan base and everyone loves these characters, but we’re living in a world where mortality is in question every single moment of every day, and every one of these characters is expendable.’ He’s pretty ruthless from the first script.”

“When you have a job like this, you have no job security,” she added.

Gilsig will be joined in season two by Vancouver native Alexander Ludwig, who rose to fame by starring as Cato alongside Jennifer Lawrence in The Hunger Games.

Ludwig will play Bjorn, “the intelligent and bold warrior son” of Ragnar Lothbrok (Travis Fimmel).

Other Canadians on the series include Donal Logue and Katheryn Winnick.
