Rookie Blue creator labels Flashpoint a "game-changer" for Canadian TV

RookieBlue44Rookie Blue creator Tassie Cameron has credited Flashpoint as being a “game-changer” for TV in Canada.

Cameron, who served as a co-executive producer and writer on Flashpoint, says that without it Rookie Blue may not have even existed.

“I have such a soft spot for that show,” Cameron says of Flashpoint. “Having been involved in the first year and having worked with Mark (Ellis) and Stephanie (Morgenstern, its creator-producers) closely. It really was a game-changer for Canadian television.

“Certainly, I don’t know that there would have been a ‘Rookie Blue’ without a ‘Flashpoint,'” adds Cameron. “I feel grateful, and I feel that I learned a lot. They made a very gracious exit, and did it on their own terms and did it beautifully. I really respect that.”

“That was just a fantastic cast,” she says of the likes of Enrico Colantoni and Hugh Dillon. “They’re all going on to do great things, but I know it was a very emotional time for all those guys when it was ending.”
