Olympicssochi-2014-logoCBC/Radio-Canada has confirmed an agreement with TVA Sports for the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games.

Today, CBC/Radio-Canada, the official rights holder broadcaster of the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games, and TVA Sports announce that an agreement has been reached to provide TVA Sports access to broadcast portions of CBC/Radio-Canada-produced Olympic programming during Sochi 2014 in French.

“In acquiring the broadcast rights to the Sochi Olympics, one of CBC/Radio-Canada’s primary objectives was to connect as many Canadians as possible with this unparalleled sporting event.” said CBC/Radio-Canada executive vice-president Louis Lalande. “Our agreement with TVA Sports represents a major milestone in helping us achieve that objective. JillianMcThe winner of Big Brother Canada has been revealed in controversial circumstances.

Jillian MacLaughlin from New Glasgow, N.S., has taken out the $100,000 grand prize, beating fellow housemate Gary Levy following a voting mishap from jury member Topaz.

Believing she was voting for Gary to win, Topaz accidentally cast her vote for Jillian.

When host Arisa Cox announced her vote for Jillian, Topaz got up on stage to protest, claiming someone had switched her vote. Continue reading »

pain-gainDwayne “The Rock” Johnson will team up with Entourage producers Mark Wahlberg and Steve Levinson on a new HBO dramedy.

Johnson will join his fellow Pain & Gain co-star Wahlberg on the project that will centre on athletes. Peter Berg is on board to direct the pilot.

The project will follow the lives of both current and retired athletes living in Miami, with Johnson playing one.

YouTubeGoogle executive chairman Eric Schmidt believes internet video has already overtaken TV in terms of relevance.

Schmidt spoke at a gathering of digital advertisers in New York this week and when asked when internet video would displace TV, he answered: “That’s already happened.”

“It’s not a replacement for something that we know,” he added. “It’s a new thing that we have to think about, to program, to curate and build new platforms.”
