Doctor Who finale the most-watched ever in Canada

doctor who20135The season 7B finale of Doctor Who has become the most-watched finale in the history of the show in Canada.

584,000 viewers tuned in to Space to see the conclusion of the latest season ‘The Name of the Doctor’ on Saturday.

Complete with secrets, revelations, and mysterious twists, “The Name of the Doctor,” made Space the #1 network – conventional or specialty – in the series’ 9 p.m. timeslot with total viewers and in the key demos A25-54 and A18-49.

Featuring a surprise appearance by John Hurt (THE ADVENTURES OF MERLIN), who will resurface for the 50th Anniversary Special, the finale reached nearly 1 million total viewers.

The DOCTOR WHO finale was also the most-watched entertainment specialty program of the day on Saturday, capping off a strong Season 7 for the Doctor and “the impossible girl” with a season average audience of 608,000.

Space Original Series ORPHAN BLACK at 9 p.m. ET, and the premiere episode of the three-part zombie series IN THE FLESH at 10 p.m. ET, also made Space the #1 entertainment specialty network from 9 p.m. – 11:15 p.m. ET in the key A25-54 and A18-49 demos. With only two episodes left, ORPHAN BLACK was watched by 287,000 viewers, while 152,000 viewers watched IN THE FLESH.
