British series Father Brown coming to BBC Canada

fatherbrownNew British drama series Father Brown is coming to BBC Canada in May.

Set in the 1950s in the heart of the beautiful English countryside, Father Brown stars Mark Williams (Harry Potter, Dr. Who) as an unassuming Catholic priest with a surprising aptitude for solving crimes.

It is a quintessentially English world with drawing rooms in large country houses, village halls, secret gardens, country fairs, rural parish churches and miles of countryside. However, withinFather Brown’s world, it seems like everyone is hiding something…
There isn’t much that Father Brown hasn’t heard in his line of work, and years of hearing his parishioners’ confessions have given him an uncanny insight into the origins of evil and the workings of the criminal mind. Each episode sees the enigmatic priest investigate a crime in his own particular way, using intuition and psychology. Father Brown discovers the truth of a crime by looking into the soul of his suspects and uncovering their passions, dark secrets and hidden desires.

Based on the short stories by G K Chesterton, Father Brown is “nostalgia TV at it’s very best” (The Guardian), full of humour, compassion and lots of dramatic twists.

Father Brown (10×60) airs Thursdays at 8pm on BBC Canada, beginning May 2.
