Canadian wins big UK TV dance series

lukas-macfarlane-got-to-danceA young Canadian dancer has found success on a big UK TV dance series.

Lukas McFarlane was crowned the winner of Got to Dance on Sunday night (UK time), claiming £250,000 in prize money in the process.

The Calgary native, who is known for performing on only one sock, beat nine other acts in the final of the series, which broadcasts on Sky1.

“It feels amazing, it feels unreal,” he said after the win. “Not in a million years did I ever think that this would be possible ever. I’m on cloud nine.

“Man, I’m so overwhelmed right now – my long-term goal is just to keep doing what I’m doing and helping people, changing people. I just want to make a difference, I don’t want to be just a dancer, I want it to mean something.”

McFarlane left Canada to head to London after graduating from Winston Churchill High School in 2011.
