Since attending the Barry Callebaut Chocolate School and Le Cordon Bleu Ottawa Culinary Arts Institute, she has garnered over nine years of experience throughout Canada, France and England. Her specialties include beer-braised apple fritters and a deconstructed Boston cream pie donut.

Barb started baking donuts in 1984 for Tim Hortons, and then started to make her own in 2007 when she opened her own franchise, GranDad’s Coffee & Donuts. Barb has created over 40 varieties of donuts.

 

 

walking_dead_norman_reedusSome Canadian internet users were met with confusing online banners this week that stated they had “lost” The Walking Dead.

The banners were referencing the on-going negotiations between the AMC network and Rogers Communications over a broadcast deal.

Some users were reporting on Wednesday night that they were seeing the ads that stated “Rogers Customers You Have Lost The Walking Dead” or “Rogers Customers You May Lose The Walking Dead”.

NBA basketballer Mickael Pietrus has got some screen-time on NBA TV Canada this week after bombing a pre-game chat between presenters Paul Jones and Sherman Hamilton.

The Toronto Raptors player busted out some sweet dance moves behind Jones and Hamilton, who continued with their presentation despite Pietrus’s antics behind them.

donal-logue-sons-of-anarchyThe sixth season of Sons of Anarchy will see the return of Donal Logue, it has been confirmed.

The actor will return as the mysterious retired U.S. Marshal Lee Toric after appearing in several episodes towards the end of season five.

Logue initially signed a 10-episode deal with the show and has only popped up in two so far.

His character is seeking revenge on Otto (Kurt Sutter) and the motorcycle club for the death of his sister.

ArcherA fifth season of Archer has been ordered.

The FX animated spy series will return or a further 13 episodes.

“Archer is one the very best comedy series on television,” said FX’s vice president of original programming and development Nick Grad.

Donut Showdown LogoFood Network Canada has confirmed a brand new original series entitled Donut Showdown.

The competition series will see the best professional donut makers from across North America dish up some of their “wackiest creations” in the hopes of winning the $10,000 grand prize.

Hosted by international food television sensation Danny Boome (The Chew, Recipe Rehab), Donut Showdown brings an expert panel of judges to the diner kitchen to decide which fried treats will make the cut and which ones will cause the judges’ eyes to ‘glaze’ over.

David Rocco (David Rocco’s Amalfi Getaway) leads the charge as head judge, joined by fellow esteemed judges culinary expert Maggie McKeown (Recipe to Riches) and popular Toronto restaurateur Zane Caplansky (Caplansky’s Delicatessen). Continue reading »

Kiefer-SutherlandKiefer Sutherland has thrown his support behind a push for the Canadian TV industry to retain its stars.

The 24 and Touch actor and his mother, actress Shirley Douglas, said that the country needs to support its top talent more.

Sutherland said: “For the first five years of my career I was working back and forth between the United States and Canada. The Bay Boy was the first film I got to do, I would come back and do plays, do theatre here.
