The Amazing RaceThe new group of racers to be unleashed onto the world courtesy of The Amazing Race have been revealed.

Among them are professional hockey players, roller derby moms, YouTube personalities and descendant of none other than the Duke himself, John Wayne.

According to CBS the teams will “skydive from 10,000 feet in Bora Bora, participate in a Shemozzle race in New Zealand, hunt for scorpions with the Bushmen of Botswana and scale the treacherous north face of the Eiger Mountain in Switzerland.” Continue reading »

will-arnettArrested Development actor Will Arnett has been announced as the recipient of the Canadian Award of Distinction at this year’s Banff World Media Festival.

Arnett, who will be back playing Gob in the fourth season of Arrested Development soon, will accept the award at the Rockie Awards Gala.

Past winners of the award – presented annually to a Canadian “whose body of work exemplifies outstanding achievement in the film and television industry” – include Paul Haggis, Howie Mandel and Martin Short.

bored-to-deathThe adventures of quirky Brooklyn writer/private eye Jonathan Ames look set to continue with news that HBO are developing a film version of Bored to Death.

The comedy series ran for three seasons between 2009-11 and featured a brilliant cast of Jason Schwartzman, Ted Danson and Zach Galifianakis.

Schwartzman played the role of Ames, who was created by the real-life writer Jonathan Ames.

“Jonathan, Ray, and George reunite to fight crime, commit crime, lose their minds and fail at love in a Bored to Death feature-length slapstick adventure,” reads the film’s logline. Continue reading »

Jean-Paul AussenardJim Parsons is set to nerd up another TV series inspired by gifted youth.

The Big Bang Theory actor and Emmy winner will develop and executive produce the series about young prodigies that will be based on the YouTube program Prodigies.

The series will follow gifted youngsters as they balance their extraordinary talent with their lives as ordinary kids.

“I knew within a few minutes of viewing my first episode of Prodigies that I wanted to be a part of the team bringing the digital series to a wider audience via television,” Parsons said in a statement Tuesday. Continue reading »

The Birmingham Mail has caused quite a stir this week by reporting that the eleven actors will return – even the three dead ones thanks to digital trickery – for the celebration this year.

However, the sixth Doctor, Colin Baker, tweeted that he has not been approached for a TV appearance.

USE THIS ONE ... Krista Erickson, host of Canada Live.Sun TV will have to make do without Krista Erickson after the presenter announced her departure from Canada Live.

The often controversial presenter, who infamously mocked Canadian dancer Margie Gillis when she interviewed her about public funding for the arts in 2011, has reportedly moved to London.

She was cleared by the Canadian Broadcasting Standards Council following the incident with Gillis, despite the fact more than 6,000 complaints were received.

Erickson was seen this week reporting on the UK snowfall from London for CBS News.
