New Coca-Cola TV ad addresses obesity

For the first time ever, Coca-Cola will address obesity directly in TV ad spots.

The company will run a two-minute spot during some of the highest-rating shows on the likes of CNN, Fox News and MSNBC.

The ad will touch on the fact Coca-Cola has been pushing lower-calorie drinks over the past few years and that the obesity crisis is due to people consuming too many calories of any kind and not just their drinks.

“We have not done a good enough job in telling our story and being consistent in telling our story,” said Diana Garza Ciarlante, a spokesperson for Coca-Cola.

She says the ads are not a reaction by the company to negative press.

Another Coca-Cola ad will run during American Idol and the Super Bowl that addresses the amount of calories in a can of their drink.
