New drama The Americans coming to FX Canada

Delivering on its distinctive brand of critically praised dramas and side-splitting comedies, FX Canada ushers in the new year with two eagerly anticipated new mid-season series and two returning mainstays to round out its celebrated lineup.

Premiering January 30 at 10 p.m. ET/PT, new period drama The Americans takes espionage to new heights. Set in Washington D.C. shortly after Ronald Reagan is elected president, the series stars Keri Russell and follows two KGB spies posing as Americans.

Complementing FX Canada’s stacked bill of comedies, new series Legit chronicles the life of a guy named Jim and his misguided attempts to become legitimate in life. The humourous new series premieres January 17 at 10:30 p.m. ET/PT.

All-new seasons of the exploratory late night talk show Totally Biased with W. Kamau Bell Season 2 and knockout series The Ultimate Fighter Season 17 return to FX Canada beginning January 17 at 11 p.m. ET/PT and January 22 at 9 p.m. ET/PT, respectively.


The Americans

Premieres January 30 at 10 p.m. ET/PT

Set in America’s capital during the Cold War, The Americans follows Phillip (Matthew Rhys, Brothers and Sisters) and Elizabeth Jennings (Keri Russell, Running Wilde), two KGB spies posing as Americans. The couple carefully manoeuvres through the escalating Cold War and the relationships they maintain with a network of spies and informants under their control. Complicating their relationship further is Phillip’s growing regard for American values and lifestyle, compounded by the arrival of Stan (Noah Emmerich, White Collar), their new neighbour and an FBI agent working in counter intelligence. The 90-minute series premiere airs January 30 at 10 p.m. ET/PT on FX Canada. Viewers can catch a repeat broadcast of the premiere episode on January 31 at 9 p.m. ET/PT. The 13-episode, 60-minute drama will continue to air Wednesdays at 10 p.m. ET/PT.

New 13-episode, 30-minute comedy series Legit follows the story of Jim (Jim Jefferies, Fully Functional) and his unwise attempts to make himself “legitimate”. Supported in his life quest by his best friend Steve (Dan Bakkedahl, Community) and Steve’s brother Billy (DJ Qualls, Hustle and Flow), the series is based on the comedy of Australian stand-up Jim Jefferies. Following the series premiere on January 17 at 10:30 p.m. ET/PT, Legit will air Thursdays at 10:30 p.m. ET/PT.
