CTV News announces its top 10 news stories of 2012

As 2012 comes to an end, CTV News looks back on all the top news stories of the year, beginning Sunday, Dec. 23 in CTV National News.

The bloody violence of the ongoing Syrian uprising continuously topped headlines this year, locking it into the #1 spot on CTV National News’s Top 10 News Stories of the year.

The Syrian crisis is followed by last week’s tragic U.S. school shooting in Newtown, Connecticut at #2, and rounding out the Top 3 stories of 2012 is coverage of continuing worldwide financial struggles.

Revealed this morning on Canada AM by CTV’s Chief Anchor and Senior Editor Lisa LaFlamme, the Top 10 News Stories for 2012 were selected by a panel of journalists led by LaFlamme.
Beginning Sunday, CTV National News features in-depth reports on each of 2012’s Top 10 News stories every night leading up to New Year’s Day. CTV’s team of top correspondents and reporters take a closer look at each of the major stories, reporting on recent developments and examining the impact they will continue to have on Canadians in 2013.
