Monsters Inside Me returns to Discovery, Oct 12

An itchy rash, a common cough, blurred vision – it could be nothing… or it could be a fast-growing parasite that is eating its victim from the inside out! MONSTERS INSIDE ME – “My Child Will Only Eat Cat Food”

Isabella, a toddler from Masillon, Ohio, stops eating and suffers bizarre salt cravings. When her parents realize she’s no longer growing, the culprit appears to be a deadly roundworm that attacks several parts of the human body. In Lomita, California, Tom’s rumbling stomach shakes him to the core. At the hospital, doctors discover that his colon has become clogged and infected. Then, John and Lucina, a couple from Santa Fe, New Mexico, are infected with an organism that has been responsible for more than 150-million deaths worldwide since the sixth century, killing 50% of those infected.

In Atlanta, Georgia, Kathyrn is a new mom suffering from what doctors think is an infection in her breast tissue – until they find out what it really is. In Fayetteville, North Carolina, Matthew flesh starts to decay and doctors can’t identify what this Boy Scout’s mysterious infection is. In Bloomington, Minnesota, 19-year-old Sarah is one gasp away from death when a fungus infesting the deepest cavities of her lungs is suffocating her.

In Veneta, Oregon, Adam returns home from South America with a mysterious face-eating infection that doctors suspect to be a staph infection caused by bacteria that releases toxins and destroys the surrounding skin cells. Then, in Summerland, California, Jeremiah injures his back and experiences bizarre symptoms including uncontrollable body shakes, endless pain, and suspicious-looking bumps. In Oildale, California, 12-year-old Tyler is a rising football star when a mysterious monster believed to be spinal meningitis hits his brain and affects his physical ability to play.

Newlywed Kiera, from Springfield, Ohio, is plagued by headaches, horrific seizures, and inexplicable delusions. Is it meningitis or something much worse? In Englewood, Ohio, Ethan, an eight-year-old basketball player, cries out in agony when something insidious makes him sick and unable to walk. His leg muscles are being ripped apart and he goes into septic shock before doctors know for sure that is lurking in his limbs. In Palmdale, California, Bill, a plumber, vomits on the job and loses 23 kilograms in a matter of weeks, and doctors struggle to diagnose the illness before the monster eats Bill’s body from the inside out.
