Canadians represent at the 2012 MTV Video Music Awards

Hosted by comedian Kevin Hart, and jam packed with a who’s who lineup of performers and presenters, viewers won’t want to miss the 2012 MTV Video Music Awards, airing live from Los Angeles’ Staples Centre, Thursday, Sept. 6 at 8 p.m., exclusively on MuchMusic.

Viewers can start the night right with the red carpet show, airing live at 7 p.m. ET on Much.

This year Canadian mega-star Drake shares top-nominee honours with Rihanna with five nominations each. Additional Canadian nominees include scream-inducing Justin Bieber (two nominations) and Vancouver favourite Carly Rae Jepsen.

Also nominated and representing Canada is K’Naan’s hit song featuring Nelly Furtado “Is Anybody Out There”, in the “Song with a Message” category.

Back on home turf, New.Music.Live. host Lauren Toyota and Video On Trial’s Trevor Boris offer fans a Canadian perspective on all things VMAs with live reports and commentary throughout the broadcast, live from MuchHQ.

The 2012 MTV Video Music Awards is filled with roof-blowing performances, including the return of iconic punk-rockers Green Day, One Direction, Rihanna, Taylor Swift, 2 Chainz, and many more. On hand to help award the coveted silver moon man are some of the biggest names of 2012 including Wiz Khalifa, The Wanted, Andy Samberg, Demi Lovato, Katy Perry, and much, much more!
