Canadian TV watching on the rise

Canadians are still loving TV despite the proliferation of new online media with stats releases this week showing a rise in TV viewing levels.

The CRTC’s new report shows that Canadian watched an average of 28.5 hours of TV last year, up 30 minutes from 2010.

A further 2.8 hours of TV was watched on average online also.

“Canadians are enthusiastic consumers of creative content, whether it is offered on television, radio or through digital platforms,” said Jean-Pierre Blais, chairman of the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission.

“The fact that they are spending more time watching or listening to programming is good news for Canadian creators.”
