The first-ever Bachelor Canada says he is genuinely looking for a connection with one of the 25 women on the new Citytv reality series.

Former CFL player Brad Smith said he didn’t expect the show to lead to an automatic relationship or marriage, he just wanted to meet someone.

“It seemed like it was all kind of meant to be,” says Smith.

“It was a life-meets-opportunity moment where I had decided to settle down in my life and as soon as I had made that decision … three days later I got the call from ‘The Bachelor.'” Continue reading »

Legendary Emmy and Tony Award winning comedian, Andrea Martin, will appear as a special guest on CBC’s Over the Rainbow this week. Viewers can see the eight remaining Dorothys perform live on Sunday, September 30 at 8 p.m. (8:30 NT), followed by Monday night’s results show on October 1 at 8 p.m. (8:30 NT).

Martin will share her unique brand of wit and her experience in musical comedy as she works with the contestants to stage their group performance of the Broadway classic, “Anything You Can Do,” from Annie Get Your Gun. Each contestant will be vying for the chance to play Dorothy in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s new stage adaptation of The Wizard of Oz, opening this December at the Ed Mirvish Theatre, Toronto, ON. Rory McIlroy and Tiger Woods headline a world-class field of golfers at the Medinah Country Club in Medinah, Illinois for the 2012 Ryder Cup live on TSN and TSN Mobile TV from September 28 to 30.

Canada’s Sports Leader has complete coverage of the prestigious biennial tournament, which pits the best golfers in the USA against the top golfers from Europe across three days of competition (see complete broadcast schedule below).

The action begins with foursome (two-man teams in alternate shot play) and fourball (two-man teams in better ball competition) matches on Friday, Sept. 28 at 8 a.m. ET and Saturday, Sept. 29 at 9 a.m. ET on TSN. The late-night comedic documentary series The Right Hand returns this fall, with more antics from adult film producer Porno Dan and his right-hand-man.

The second season of The Right Hand premieres Thursday, October 4 at midnight MT on Movie Central (Western Canada) and on Friday, October 5 at 11:00 p.m. ET on The Movie Network’s MExcess multiplex channel (Eastern Canada).

Season one saw Porno Dan hire good-natured Canadian film student Brandon MacIntosh as his production assistant. With no experience in the industry, MacIntosh was quickly thrown out of his element and into the adult film world. In the season one finale, Porno Dan asked MacIntosh if he wanted to stay on, but Brandon’s answer was not revealed.

The season two premiere will make known MacIntosh’s answer, as the episode follows the production assistant into the biggest industry event of the year. Continue reading »

Prehistoric creatures are about to invade Vancouver with the premiere of the highly-anticipated Space original series, Primeval: New World.

Sinking its teeth into Space’s fall lineup beginning Monday, Oct. 29 at 10 p.m. ET, the series stars a flock of genre luminaries, including Niall Matter (Eureka) and Sara Canning (Vampire Diaries).

The North American spin-off follows a specialized team of animal experts and scientists who discover dinosaurs and other dangerous predators emerging onto the streets of modern-day Vancouver through anomalies in time, and features guest star Andrew Lee Potts as Connor Temple from the original U.K. series. Actor Johnny Lewis has been found dead in Los Angeles.

The former Sons of Anarchy and The OC actor fell or jumped to his death from the roof of a house on Wednesday in California.

An elderly woman was also found dead at the scene and the 28-year-old is suspected of killing her before he died.

The Los Angeles Police Department says an altercation took place between Lewis and the woman at the scene. Continue reading »
