Olympic TV audience up in Canada from four years ago

The Canadian Olympic audience for London 2012 is well up on that of Beijing in 2008.

Canada’s Olympic Broadcast Media Consortium is averaging 2.1 million viewers overall through the first four days of the games, with swimming proving the most popular.

The daily average audience is up 74 per cent on the average of Beijing four years ago, which screened on CBC.

The top five most-watched events have all come from the pool, with the women’s and men’s semi-finals and finals on July 29 topping the list with 2.2m.

4.5m Canadians watched some part of the women’s synchronised 10m diving final where Canadians Emilie Heymans and Jennifer Abel took home the bronze.
