Bolt's victory makes popular viewing for Canadians

Usain Bolt’s 100m final win has proved the most popular event at the London 2012 Olympics for Canadian TV viewers.

The Canadian broadcast consortium reports that Sunday evening’s run was watched by 6.2m viewers in Canada, which is roughly the same size audience that tunes into the likes of the Oscars and the Super Bowl.

The audience as also in line with the biggest non-hockey audiences of the Vancouver 2010 Winter games.

Other events to pull the crowds in Canada include the narrow overtime loss for the women’s football team against the USA on Monday evening and the first Canadian gold of the game in the women’s trampoline final.
