The magical legend of the adventure-seeking sailor is brought to life in new series Sinbad, premiering Sunday, July 8 at 7 p.m. ET/9 p.m. PT on Space.

From BBC Worldwide, Sinbad stars newcomer Elliot Knight in the title role as the recklessly decisive and utterly charming Sinbad, as well as Golden Globe and Emmy Award-nominee Naveen Andrews (Lost) as Sinbad’s nemesis Lord Akbari.

This high-octane adventure series will take viewers on a fantastical journey through an ancient legendary mythology that spans the Seven Seas.
This 21st century take on the iconic hero includes some well-known faces who help to reinvent the classic tale, including Academy Award-nominee Sophie Okonedo (Hotel Rwanda, Doctor Who), and Timothy Spall (Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Parts 1 & 2). Whether viewers are new to the legend, or seasoned sailors, Sinbad has never cast-off quite like this.

In the premiere episode, Sinbad (Elliot) is on the run after the accidental death of Lord Akbari’s (Andrews) son. Following his escape, Sinbad is cursed by his grandmother Safia (Academy Award-nominee Dame Janet Suzman, Labyrinth), and until he atones for his sins, he can’t stay on dry land for more than 24 hours.

Bound to the sea, Sinbad and his fellow ship members are thrown together on a spellbinding voyage of discovery where they’re forced to face unimaginable challenges.
