465,000 viewers set sail with Sinbad on Space

It was smooth sailing for the series premiere of Sinbad on SPACE on Sunday night, with 465,000 viewers tuning into the 7 p.m. ET (339,000) and 12 a.m. ET (126,000) broadcasts.

Reaching 1.1 million viewers, Sinbad is the highest-rated series premiere on SPACE this year, and during the 7 p.m. hour on Sunday, Sinbad ranked as the #1 non-sports specialty series in Canada with total viewers*.

Starring newcomer Elliot Knight in the title role, Sinbad also stars Naveen Andrews (LOST) as Sinbad’s nemesis Lord Akbari.

In the premiere episode re-airing Saturday, July 14 at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT on SPACE, Sinbad (Knight) is on the run after the accidental death of Lord Akbari’s (Andrews) son, and is cursed by his grandmother Safia (Academy Award-nominee Dame Janet Suzman, LABYRINTH), until he atones for his sins, he’s not able to stay on dry land for more than 24 hours. Bound to the sea, Sinbad and his fellow ship members are thrown together on a spellbinding voyage of discovery.

In the second episode premiering Sunday, July 15 at 7 p.m. ET/9 p.m. PT, the crew is captured by the feral tribe the Water-Thieves, and Sinbad tries to seduce their leader to save their lives. After escaping with the help of Roc, a giant mythical bird, Sinbad returns to try to free him, and is attacked and is nearly destroyed by the curse that plagues him.
