Viewer numbers for 2012 Stanley Cup final well down in Canada

TV ratings for this season’s Stanley Cup final between the Los Angeles Kings and the New Jersey Devils were well down on last year, on both sides of the border.

Of course, with no Canadian team in the series this year, Canada viewing numbers were never going to stand up to last year when the Vancouver Canucks went down to the Boston Bruins.

An average audience of 2.67m tuned in over the six games of the final here in Canada, compared to the 8.7m last year’s game seven drew.

The final averaged 2.99m across the series on NBC in the US, making it’s the lowest rating final for average viewership in the US since 1995.
