Wallenda will step onto the 5cm tightrope at 10.20pm tonight and make his way from the American side to the Canadian side where his family will be waiting.
However, there has been talk that Wallenda may unhook the safety tether that he has been required to wear by the ABC network, who will screen the event in the US.
The deal was for Wallenda to wear the tether for safety reasons from the moment he steps out onto the rope until he reaches Canada. But rumours are suggesting he will unhook it partway across.
“It’s central to our agreement that he will have the harness connected, and we expect that’s going to be exactly what happens,” said Jeffrey W. Schneider, senior vice president of ABC News.
Canadians can watch the stunt live on CTV from 9.pm.
