Live auditions will open for aspiring performers this Friday, June 1st in Vancouver for the role of Dorothy in the upcoming exciting CBC live competition series, Over the Rainbow, produced by Temple Street Productions.

The winning Dorothy will star in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s new production of The Wizard of Oz, opening at the Ed Mirvish Theatre in Toronto this December.

The live nationwide auditions open starting Friday, June 1 in Vancouver, followed by stops in Calgary, Winnipeg, Montreal, Halifax and Toronto. Continue reading »

The inaugural season of Big Brother Canada will air during the 2012/13 broadcast season exclusively on Slice™.

In the Canadian Gemini Award-winning film PARADISE CITY: DEGRASSI GOES HOLLYWOOD, Manny (Canadian Cassie Steele, THE L.A. COMPLEX) and the Degrassi gang including Mia (Canadian Nina Dobrev, THE VAMPIRE DIARIES), Sav (Raymond Ablack, DEGRASSI), Danny (Dalmar Abuzeid, Majority Rules!) and Peter (Canadian Jamie Johnston, My Babysitter’s a Vampire) venture to L.A. on a cross-continent road trip with Manny’s past love Jay (Mike Lobel, REALLY ME!). Everyone is hoping to score parts in Mewesical High, a big-budget movie musical directed by Jason Mewes (Clerks), under the mentorship of Kevin Smith (Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, Clerks). The Hollywood experience leads to the rekindling of old flings, a lot of heartache and deep soul searching as the aspiring stars are reminded that the rise to the top isn’t always smooth sailing.

In the new CTV original series SAVING HOPE, when charismatic Chief of Surgery Charlie Harris (Michael Shanks, STARGATE ATLANTIS) at Toronto’s Hope-Zion Hospital ends up in a coma, he leaves the hospital in chaos – and his fiance and fellow surgeon, Alex Reid (Erica Durance, SMALLVILLE), in a state of shock. Along with newly-arrived star surgeon Joel Goran (Daniel Gillies, THE VAMPIRE DIARIES), Alex races to save Harris’ life. As the action unfolds, comatose Dr. Harris explores the hospital halls in “spirit” form, unsure if he’s a ghost or a figment of his own imagination.

The fast-paced and hilarious new dating series presents 30 single women with a series of hopeful bachelors each week. Filmed in front of a studio audience, the female contestants are all vying for the same bachelor, and over four rounds, they must choose to either keep the light at their podium on if they feel a spark, or turn it off if the attraction fizzles. Multi-talented entertainer George Lopez plays double-duty as host and matchmaker as he invites some flirtatious fun between the ladies and brave bachelor before them.

When the body of a lawyer who has been missing for almost a decade is discovered, Toby (Craig Olejnik) is called in to work on his first case with the IIB. Already nervous, the pressure is on when he learns that his new boss, Alvin Klein (Peter Stebbings), is suspicious of his telepathic abilities. Toby tries to make sense of the barrage of images he’s receiving so he can prove to his peers, and himself, that he should be working for the IIB.

The auditions head to Atlanta where judges Nigel Lythgoe, Mary Murphy and a guest judge are greeted by dancers skilled in everything from ballroom to ballet, salsa to jazz, hip hop and even krumping. The dancers perform in the hopes of receiving a ticket to the finals in Las Vegas.
