More semi-finalists through to Canada's Got Talent finals

Featuring a powerful performance by judge Stephan Moccio, it was another unpredictable and emotional, live Canada’s Got Talent results show earlier yesterday evening on Citytv.

As the Week 5 semifinalists anxiously awaited their fate, Dina Pugliese delivered the good news that Manitoba’s traditional dance trio Sagkeeng’s Finest were the highest vote-getters and would be advancing to the Canada’s Got Talent finals.

Of the acts who placed second and third amongst voters, judges Martin Short, Measha Brueggergosman and Stephan Moccio selected Toronto beatboxer “KRNFX” to join Sagkeeng’s Finest in the finals.

Sagkeeng’s Finest and “KRNFX” will perform in the Canada’s Got Talent finals on May 13 alongside previously announced finalists country singer Ivan Daigle (Petitcodiac, NB), rapper Mathew Cathcart (Hamilton, ON), dancer Shale Wagman (Toronto), opera singer Emilio Fina (Petersburg, ON), rock band Angry Candy (Moncton, NB), beatboxer Scott Jackson, hip hop dance group Freshh (Vancouver), opera singer Julie Lafontaine (Montreal).

Canada’s Got Talent airs Sunday nights at 8 p.m. and Monday nights at 9 p.m. local time on Citytv.

Sagkeeng’s Finest, the three-member, traditional dance group from Sagkeeng First Nation in Fort Alexander, MB, proved to Canada and the judges just how far they had come from their first audition, as they danced for their lives last night on the Canada’s Got Talent stage. It was the Canada’s Got Talent auditions that first inspired the three members to come together and put their talent to the test. Their community has supported them every dance step of the way.

Toronto beatboxer Terry Im, more popularly known as “KRNFX,” showcased his beatboxing talent and technical ability last night, using a loop machine to create his unique version of The Jackson 5’s“I Want You Back.” Having taken piano, flute, and drum lessons as a child, it was the drums that stuck with Terry, inspiring him to recreate the sounds he heard using his mouth. Now, more than 10 years later, Terry has become one of the top artists in the beatbox world today.
