Corus Entertainment’s Nelvana Enterprises and Thunderbird Films announced today that Disney XD has picked up Season 2 of the live-action comedy series, Mr. Young, in the U.S.
Mr. Young recently delivered solid time period increases over year-ago averages on Disney XD, building by 38% in Total Viewers (437,000 vs. 317,000), by 52% in Kids 6-14 (298,000 vs. 196,000) and by 26% in Boys 6-14 (180,000 vs. 143,000). Filmed in front of a live studio audience in Vancouver, the series stars Brendan Meyer as Adam Young, a child prodigy who, after going to university at the age of 9, graduates at age 14 and lands himself a job as a high school science teacher instructing students his own age, including his best friend (Gig Morton), the girl he has a crush on (Matreya Fedor), and the class bully (Kurt Ostlund). With one foot in the lunch room and the other foot in the staff room, it’s Mr. Young’s social life that’s being put to the test.
Season 2 will debut in Summer 2012 and features 26 new episodes that see Adam and the gang on a spring break vacation, conducting an overnight sleep deprivation experiment, matchmaking for Principal Tater and trying to live without modern technology for a day.

Mr. Young was created by Dan Signer , who also created and is showrunner on the hit Disney Channel series A.N.T. Farm., and was previously senior writer/producer on The Suite Life of Zack and Cody and The Suite Life on Deck.
The series is produced by Thunderbird Films in association with Corus’ YTV. Nelvana Enterprises is the international distribution agent for Mr. Young, while Nelvana and Thunderbird are co-distributing the series in the United States.
