Paradise Lost 3: Purgatory premieres January 12 on HBO Canada

HBO Canada presents HBO Documentary Films’ Paradise Lost 3: Purgatory, the conclusion of the award-winning documentary trilogy that spawned a worldwide movement to free three convicted men – Damien Echols, Jason Baldwin and Jessie Misskelley – known as The West Memphis 3. The documentary premieres Thursday, January 12 at 9 p.m. ET/MT, day and date with HBO in the U.S.

Directed by Joe Berlinger and Bruce Sinofsky, this two-hour feature documentary tells the complete story of one of the most notorious child murder cases in U.S. history, chronicling stunning new developments and culminating in the startling and unexpected recent conclusion, when Echols, who was on death row, and Baldwin and Misskelley, who were serving life sentences without the possibility of parole, were finally freed from prison after more than 18 years.

Paradise Lost 3: Purgatory follows the first two documentaries in the trilogy – Paradise Lost: The Child Murders at Robin Hood Hills (1996) and Paradise Lost 2:  Revelations (2000) – which raised public awareness for the case and helped spark the worldwide movement ‘Free the West Memphis 3′, supported by celebrities such as Johnny Depp, Eddie Vedder and Natalie Maines of the Dixie Chicks.

The documentary will be broadcast in High Definition, and will be available on demand following its network premiere. In Eastern Canada, it will be available via HBO Canada OnLine with Rogers, Bell TV and Videotron and on demand and online in Western Canada via Movie Central On Demand.
