E! channel reveals first-year ratings growth

E! is celebrating its first birthday and recent audience data shows the channel delivering more and more female viewers.

Since its launch on Nov. 29, 2010, E! has seen substantial ratings increases with women as they turn to the channel for all their celebrity programs, gossip and entertainment news.

E! has grown 49% for W18-49, 44% for W25-54 and 74% for W18-34 from the previous year, and 21% among total viewers. On average, more than 3 million Canadians watch E! each week.

Canadians clearly love the Kardashians Sundays at 10 p.m., with KEEPING UP WITH THE KARDASHIANS, KOURTNEY & KIM TAKE NEW YORK, and KHLOE & LAMAR ranking as the Top 3 programs on the network (respectively) with W18-49. It’s the top hour of the week on E!, attracting an average audience of 85,000 total viewers and 38,000 W18-49 viewers. On Sundays at 10 p.m., E! is now the #3 Canadian English non-sports specialty channel among W18-49.

In addition to the Kardashians, viewers are loving E!’s non-stop red carpet coverage, with LIVE FROM THE RED CARPET special events attracting the two highest audiences ever. E! LIVE FROM THE RED CARPET: THE 2011 ACADEMY AWARDS delivered 436,000 viewers and LIVE THE FROM RED CARPET: THE 2011 GRAMMY AWARDS attracted 240,000 viewers. Award season is just around the corner and viewers can again expect the best red carpet coverage on E! as it goes LIVE FROM THE RED CARPET at the 2012 GOLDEN GLOBE AWARDS on Sunday, Jan. 15 at 6 p.m. ET (visit eonline.ca to confirm local broadcast times).
