FX Canada takes on The Ultimate Fighter, beginning March 2012

Continuing its commitment to premium world-class content, FX Canada today announced that Ultimate Fighting Championship reality series The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) joins the network’s Friday night lineup this spring.

FX Canada has acquired seasons 15 and 16 of the 13-part series, which will premiere March 9 and will air in a consistent timeslot on Fridays at 9 p.m. ET/PT.

For the upcoming 15th season, TUF features a new series format. Each 60-minute episode focuses on two fighters training for the big fight. In the last 15 minutes of each episode, the competitors face off in an elimination bout, with the winner moving on to the next round. Coaches train alongside their fighters for the first 12 weeks of the season in preparation for the championship, which takes place in episode 13 in a three-hour finale.

This marks the first major programming acquisition for FX Canada since the channel’s launch on October 31.

“The Ultimate Fighter is another example of how we are continuously capitalizing on opportunities to build our bold programming slate and offer Canadians the best in world-class content on FX Canada,” said Scott Moore, President of Broadcasting, Rogers Media. “The addition of The Ultimate Fighter series to our stellar FX Canada lineup provides the loyal fans of mixed martial arts a chance to view and participate in the evolution of the series each season.”
