Duck! DAILY PLANET hosts Dan Riskin and Ziya Tong check out the season’s most coveted and cutting-edge toys – like the snowball blaster – “High-Tech Toys Week” Dec. 12 – 16

DAILY PLANET presents the coolest and most-buzzed about toys on the market this gift-giving season. From a toy blaster that makes and launches softball-sized snowballs to the world’s first-and-only, multi-touch, transparent touch screen midi controller for professional DJs – it’s go, go gadget cool all week long!

Highlights from DAILY PLANET’s “High-Tech Toys Week” include:

The Snowball Blaster – This incredible toy blaster makes and launches softball-sized snowballs up to 15 meters, allowing rapid, long-range assaults during neighbourhood snowball confrontations.

Emulator – Tong and Riskin get set for an in-studio jam session on the Emulator, the world’s first – and only – real and usable multi-touch DJ system. The crowd can see exactly what the DJ is doing on a huge transparent touch screen…Bieber never sounded so good!

Boxerjocks – Boxerjocks is a game of skill and an exciting thrill ride all rolled into one. Each rider enters the Boxerjock, and encased in a suit of steel armour is ready to do battle. Complete manoeuverability allows strategic positioning of each robot via dual joystick control. Punch-buttons located on each joystick allow the rider to punch either arm at will.

Ryno – This ain’t no Segway! The Ryno is a unique one-wheeled motorcycle. Chris Hoffman created one after his teen daughter asked if he could make a cool motorbike like the one in her video game. One high school shop class later, the first prototype was born… DAILY PLANET catches up with Hoffman and his crew as they put the newest Ryno model through its’ paces.

U-boat Worx – U-boat Worx is a Dutch company that makes mini-submarines for the yacht-owning set. The subs are small enough to be kept on deck, but strong enough to take people down to 100 metres. They have huge glass domes that offer huge views of reefs and shipwrecks. Eat your heart out, Jules Verne…

ETV – Extra Terrestrial Vehicle – Talk about a car from out of this world! Hop in the driver’s seat with Mike Vetter, custom car builder from Florida’s space coast and find out what inspires his “vehicle vision” and what makes these cars amongst some of the most desirable in the world.

An international success story, DAILY PLANET is produced by Exploration Production Inc. (EPI), a production house wholly owned by Discovery Channel Canada. The series’ Executive Producer is Kelly McKeown; Senior Producer is Steven Hunt; Managing Producer is Julie Borthwick; and Director is John Morrison.
