Another pair leaves Battle of the Blades

Violetta Afanasieva and Cale Hulse skated for their survival tonight on the Hallowe’en episode of BATTLE OF THE BLADES, but their performance fell short and they have become the fourth “iced” pair on this live competitive TV series. The Canadian Cancer Society will receive a $25,000 donation in their honour.

The pair Tanith Belbin and Boyd Devereaux, also in the bottom two, will continue to compete for their chance to win a $100,000 donation to their chosen charities, the Montreal Neurological Institute and Epilepsy Huron-Perth-Bruce.

One of the most decorated skaters in history, international figure skating superstar Katarina Witt provided her knowledgeable commentary on each pair’s performance as Guest Judge along with remarks from Head Judge Sandra Bezic and Resident Judge Jeremy Roenick this week on BATTLE OF THE BLADES.

Broadcast from the MasterCard Centre on Sunday, November 6 at 8 p.m. (8:30 p.m. NT) on CBC, the four pairs returning to compete on the ice are: Tanith Belbin and Boyd Devereaux; Elena Berezhnaya and Curtis Leschyshyn; Tessa Bonhomme and David Pelletier and Marie-France Dubreuil and Bryan Berard. The next dramatic, half-hour “skate-off” results show is on Monday, November 7 at 8 p.m. (8:30 p.m. NT).
