MuchMusic shines a spotlight on Africa with two original specials

Next Saturday, viewers get Much closer to global issues as multi-platinum rockers Hedley and MuchMusic’s own Sarah Taylor get down to earth about Africa in two all-new specials, HEDLEY AND THE GOAT and SARAH IN ETHIOPIA.  

Airing Saturday, Nov. 5 at 5 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. ET respectively on MuchMusic, these exclusive 30-minute original specials follow Hedley on a Me To We trip to Kenya with Free The Children and Sarah Taylor on a journey to Ethiopia with Plan Canada.  

Each traveler experiences their own life-altering adventures as they explore Africa’s rich culture, diverse customs and the challenges this vast continent faces.



Saturday Nov. 5 at 5 p.m. ET– All-New Original Special

JUNO Award winners Hedley travel to Kenya to learn how far 50 dollars takes them in their quest to buy the perfect goat and change a family’s life forever. While visiting Kenya, Hedley experienced Africa’s unique culture by meeting and working alongside community members collecting water in a traditional water walk, bartered for goats in the local market and spent time visiting Free The Children’s development projects,  helping build a school for kids without access to education.

The drought crisis in East Africa has caused wide-spread hunger across the Horn of Africa. Parts of Ethiopia are experiencing a green drought which is a confusing and deceiving emergency. Sarah Taylor’s journey takes viewers through the southern regions of Ethiopia, shining a spotlight on the strength of the human spirit through stories of hope from the people she meets.
