Canadians can now vote for this fall’s biggest night in music, Nov. 20 on CTV

Canadians have the opportunity to choose the winners of this year’s 2011 AMERICAN MUSIC AWARDS®, it was announced today, as additional performers were revealed for one of the first award shows of the season.

Airing live from the Nokia Theatre in L.A. on Sunday, Nov. 20 at 8 p.m. ET on CTV, Canadians can vote now here and help decide this year’s winners.

It was also confirmed today that CTV Two will broadcast the official red carpet pre-show, COUNTDOWN TO THE AMERICAN MUSIC AWARDS, beginning at 7 p.m. ET on CTV Two (visit CTV.ca or visit CTV.ca/Two to confirm local broadcast times).

The 2011 AMERICAN MUSIC AWARDS® is part of CTV’s extensive roster of the most-watched awards broadcasts in Canada, delivering the biggest names in film, television and music. In addition last months THE EMMY® AWARDS, CTV is set to broadcast the ACADEMY AWARDS®, the GOLDEN GLOBE AWARDS®, the JUNO Awards, and the BILLBOARD MUSIC AWARDS in 2012.

In keeping with recent tradition, the AMERICAN MUSIC AWARDS is a host-free event that highlights music’s biggest artists performing on one stage. For the fifth year in a row, winners will be determined solely by online voting.

Set to perform at this year’s awards is Canadian heartthrob Justin Bieber, who’s also nominated for Favourite Male Artist. Mary J. Blige and Kelly Clarkson will also take to the stage with already confirmed performers Katy Perry and Pitbull, while Christina Aguilera will perform “Moves Like Jagger” alongside Maroon 5.

As previously announced, leading the 2011 AMERICAN MUSIC AWARDS® with four nominations is Adele. Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, Lil Wayne, Rihanna, Taylor Swift and The Band Perry follow with three nominations each, while Beyonce, Bruno Mars, Chris Brown, Jason Aldean, Kanye West, LMFAO, Nicki Minaj, and Pitbull have secured two nominations each.

The 2011 Artist of the Year nominees are Adele, Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, Lil Wayne and Taylor Swift. Artists will be honoured in the categories of Pop/Rock, Country, Rap/Hip-Hop, Soul/R&B, Alternative, Adult Contemporary, Latin, and Contemporary Inspirational.
