Arrested Development returning to TV with new episodes

Arrested Development will return to TV with a mini-season before heading to the big screen for a movie, it has been announced.

Series creator Mitch Hurwitz confirmed the news over the weekend, announcing that nine or ten new episodes of the comedy series will be seen before the planned movie is released.

Hurwitz announced the news while attending the cast’s reunion at the New Yorker Festival.

Will Arnett, who played “Gob”, also confirmed via Twitter: “I’m peeing with @batemanjason at the moment..and we can confirm that we are going to make new AD eps and a movie.”

Jason Bateman (Michael Bluth) posted on Twitter: “It’s true. We will do 10 episodes and the movie. Probably shoot them all together next summer for a release in early ’13. VERY excited!”

The series concluded its three season run in 2006.
