National Geographic Channel delivers a slew of new and returning series to the fall lineup; from shocking tales of survival abroad and the extreme science behind miraculous death-defying feats, to quirky experiments and redneck rocket men!

Currently Canada’s #1 digital channel (A18-49 & A25-54), with over 5 million household subscribers nationwide, National Geographic Channel’s powerful programming launching throughout September and October, will surprise and enthrall viewers with an envelope-pushing lineup of series that think and tell stories outside the ‘yellow box’.

Frontier Force is a brand-new series that leaves viewers feeling the adrenaline of riding shotgun with the Montana police force.  Auto theft, drug overdoses and even trespassing grizzly bears are all in a day’s work when it comes to the calls Montana police respond to in the rugged land known as America’s Final Frontier.

A woman is severely injured in remote mountainous terrain, where first responders must take hours, not minutes, to reach her.

Police suspect that an Iraqi war vet needs psychiatric evaluation instead of jail time after a fight, and a man pulled over for drunken driving claims it’s his constitutional right to drive intoxicated. Frontier Force premieres tonight, Thursday, September 29 at 10 pm.

Premiering Monday, October 3 at 10 pm, The Indestructibles investigates 10 real-life disastrous incidents to explain how someone could survive the seemingly unsurvivable.  Deconstructing footage from each accident, hard and fast scientific principles behind these cases that defy the laws of probability are revealed.

Viewers will witness harrowing accounts from eyewitnesses and victims to get a 360° look at what really happened, including a skydiver who falls from almost five kilometers up, a helicopter split in half high above city streets, an SUV that rolls over a pedestrian, a zoo keeper attacked by hungry lions and a tourist pulled off a cliff by violent Hawaiian waves. New episodes will air at 10 pm and 10:30 pm beginning October 3.

On Monday, October 17, meet the self-proclaimed Rocket City Rednecks.  They are five “backwoods” guys from the rocket city:  Huntsville, Alabama, home to NASA’s Marshall Flight Center and the birthplace of the U.S. space program.  They love to shoot stuff and drink beer, and one of them lives in a trailer, but with a family tree full of NASA rocket scientists (not to mention their own PhDs and advanced degrees), they aim a little higher — like using homemade moonshine to fuel a rocket. With their thick accents and distinctive vocabulary, the tight-knit group brings its own unique style of Southern charm to science and technology. Back-to-back episodes of Rocket City Rednecks begin Monday, October 17 at 9 pm.

The new series Mad Scientists taps into viewers’ curiosity to see if science experiments will succeed or go disastrously wrong. Premiering Tuesday, October 18 at 9 pm, travel across America with professional builder, master-of-all-trades and host John Bowler as he goes into gadget-filled garages and junk-strewn backyards to meet the amateur inventors, weekend scientists and eccentric engineers next door. They are the brainiacs with a penchant for outrageous “toys” — like a jet-powered minivan, a fire-breathing wheelchair, a water-powered rocket belt or a giant telephone pole seesaw. The series checks out their prized gizmos and challenges them to improve their greatest inventions. New episodes will air at 9 pm and 9:30 pm beginning October 18.

New seasons of Locked Up Abroad, Known Universe and Hard Time round out the stellar fall schedule.

It’s been a year of historic and tragic loss, unimaginable damage and an earth-shattering reminder of nature’s force and power. Now get the whole story on this year’s record-setting tornados as STORM CHASERS returns Wed., Oct. 26 at 9 PM ET/10 p.m. PT on Discovery Science.

Extreme meteorologist Reed Timmer, IMAX filmmaker Sean Casey and veteran chaser Tim Samaras are back tracking the monster tornados that made headlines this past spring storm season.

The teams combine never-before-seen footage with meteorological expertise and years of chasing experience to tell the story of the seasons’ most violent storms, including the infamous tornado outbreak of April 27, 2011 when nearly 200 tornados were recorded and over 300 lives lost in a single day.

Timmer, Casey and Saras are back for a new season of STORM CHASERS, Oct. 26 on Discovery Science

The new season of STORM CHASERS features new chase vehicles including Timmer’s “Dominator 2” and cutting-edge research tools such as sophisticated radar equipment and air cannons. Casey, having completed his IMAX film, Tornado Alley, is attempting another storm chasing first: filming tornados in 3D. And TWISTEX’s newly revamped chase vehicle has all the bells and whistles with new doppler radar and probes. The race is on to learn more about these monsters of Mother Nature, improve early warning systems and save lives.

Episode highlights from STORM CHASERS include:

STORM CHASERS – “Dixie Alley Outbreak”

Wed., Oct. 26 at 9 p.m. ET/10 p.m. PT

April 27, 2011 is one of the deadliest tornado days in well over half a century. Hundreds of twisters touch down all over parts of Mississippi and Alabama known to chasers as “Dixie Alley.” There are multiple confirmed EF-5 tornadoes, the most powerful classification. Teams Dominator, TWISTEX and TIV are in Dixie Alley are on the hunt, to witness some of the day’s most breathtaking storms. Acting as storm spotters, they’re reporting the tornadoes and attempting to get warnings out. But when a violent twister tracks toward the heart of Tuscaloosa, AL, all three teams are faced with death and destruction.

STORM CHASERS – “Storms Over St. Louis”

Wed., Nov. 2 at 9 p.m. ET/10 p.m. PT

It’s the most violent tornado season in over 50 years, with death and destruction savaging the Midwestern plains before chase season has even begun. Now there’s a powerful storm tracking toward downtown St. Louis, MO, and after a hot start to the season, Timmer has suddenly lost his mojo. A series of bad decisions leaves team Dominator out of position and at each other’s throats. After completing an IMAX film that was 10 years in the making, Casey is using his armoured TIV to film a sequel in 3D – but first he needs to find the right storm. Samaras and team TWISTEX follow the path of destruction into the St. Louis area, and in an attempt to place their probe in the path of a tornado they end up chasing too close. The hunters become the hunted and the team ends up running from the beast.

STORM CHASERS – “Reed’s Redemption”

Wed., Nov. 9 at 9 p.m. ET/10 p.m. PT

After failing to find a twister on two consecutive chases, Timmer and the Dominator team are desperate to chase one down. They’re even desperate enough to pursue a powerful storm into an urban area after dark, one of the most dangerous possible chasing scenarios. Team TWISTEX’s truck threatens to keep them on the sidelines on a promising tornado day. While team Dominator pursues an intercept, the TIV team is hoping to finally shoot their first ever 3D tornado footage – but tension in the vehicle has everyone on edge, and the crew is finding out that the only thing worse than having a chase ruined by the slick, Texas mud is to be helpless in the path of a tornado.
