Chef Michael's Kitchen takes back-to-basics online

Internationally recognized Canadian Chef Michael Smith is inviting foodnetwork.ca fans into his newly renovated Prince Edward Island kitchen to talk about getting back to the basics of cooking … with a twist.

This brand new weekly instructional cooking series, Chef Michael’s Kitchen, is the first exclusive web cooking series commissioned for foodnetwork.ca featuring a Food Network personality.  Chef Michael’s Kitchen launches September 27, 2011 at foodnetwork.ca/chefmichael.

“Marking a significant milestone for foodnetwork.ca, this is the first time we’re bringing our users an exclusive web cooking series that features one of our most popular Food Network hosts,” says Paul Burns, Vice President, Digital Media, Shaw Communications Inc.  “Chef Michael’s Kitchen is a high quality series that will no doubt resonate with existing and new users alike.”

In each of the 24 six-minute webisodes, Chef Michael shares his favourite home-style dishes and healthy, local flavours with Canadian families.  Whether he’s substituting dried tomatoes for chick peas in hummus or adding an oatmeal crust to stuffed French toast, Michael walks viewers through the basics of the dish before revealing an easily personalized twist.

Michael’s signature freestyle, made-from-scratch approach to cooking along with his passionate commitment to entertaining and teaching will inspire viewers to impress themselves in their own kitchen.

The first two premiere webisodes include:

Chef Michael’s Kitchen: Grilling – Grilled Steaks with Boursin Bacon Baked Potatoes

September 27, 2011

To Michael, the only thing better than a grilled New York steak is a grilled New York steak sitting next to a twice baked potato. Especially when it’s oozing with Boursin cheese, bacon and sharp horseradish!

Chef Michael’s Kitchen: Grilling – Grilled Apple Pizza

September 27, 2011

Few foods are as fun or as flavourful as pizza, especially when you make it yourself. As easy as it may be to get delivery, it’s just as easy and far more satisfying to make it yourself.  Skip the tomatoes, use another round red fruit and grill the whole works!
