Things You Need To know premieres August 18 on DiscoveryChannel.ca

What is Madonna doing in space? How do I avoid getting hit by lightning? And how did I get my Granny’s chin?

These are burning questions – these are THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW.

The first original series commissioned for DiscoveryChannel.ca, THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW features 36 unique and entertaining episodes – each about two-to-three minutes long – that answer the questions you’ve been meaning to figure out, but just haven’t gotten to yet.

The entire series premieres at DiscoveryChannel.ca/things on Thursday, August 18, with episodes themed on the “Human Body,” the “Universe,” and “Weather” which can be enjoyed in any order.

One week following its online launch, a three-episode broadcast version, hosted by James May (TOP GEAR), debuts back-to-back-to-back on Discovery Channel, Thursday, August 25 beginning at 8 p.m. ET/9 p.m. PT.

THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW at DiscoveryChannel.ca/things is the jumping-off point for a dynamic interactive experience, introducing an all-new video player.  The special microsite (launching Aug. 18) will also invite viewers to engage with the series through social media, posing their own “need to know” questions for a shot at some cool Discovery Channel swag.

There are THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW about the Weather, the Human Body and the Universe – and here’s where you’ll find those answers about Madonna, lightning and chins (though, not necessarily all at the same time!):
