So You Think You Can Dance Canada has its first ever top 6 finale

Six will perform, but only one will win the title of Canada’s Favourite Dancer. For the first time in SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE CANADA history, it was announced live on CTV tonight that six dancers will remain in the competition to perform in next week’s final performance show.

The Top 6 dancers are: CHRISTIAN Millette (28), a Ballroom dancer from Montreal, QC; JORDAN Clark (19), a Contemporary dancer from Tottenham, ON; LINDSAY Leuschner (19), a Contemporary dancer from Stouffville, ON; MATT Marr (20), a Contemporary from Quispamsis, NB; MELISSA Mitro (23), a Contemporary dancer from Richmond Hill, ON; and SHANE Simpson (24), a Jazz dancer from Thornhill, ON.

With six dancers left standing, it was revealed that ADAM and DENITSA received the lowest number of votes and were eliminated from the competition.

The Top 6 will take to the stage on Monday, September 5 at 8 p.m. ET on CTV, giving viewers one last opportunity to vote for their Favourite Dancer before the winner is revealed during the live two-hour finale on Sunday, September 11 at 8 p.m. ET on CTV (go to ctv.ca to confirm local listings).

With voting based solely on individual competitors instead of couples, each member of the Top 8 had the opportunity to perform a solo of their choice before the results were revealed.

The performances wouldn’t change the results, and for two competitors, it would be their final chance to dance on the stage.

Following the solos, it was announced that ADAM LoPapa (19), a Jazz dancer from Woodbridge, ON, and DENITSA Ikonomova (24), a Ballroom dancer from Laval, QC, would be eliminated from the competition.

For the first time in SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE franchise history, choreographer Sean Cheesman introduced voguing to the SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE CANADA stage. The high-glamour group number featured the Top 8 dancers performing quick and precise movements to Madonna’s “Vogue.”

The Top 6 dancers now have one last chance to prove they have what it takes to become Canada’s Favourite Dancer during next week’s final performance episode on Monday, September 5 at 8 p.m. ET on CTV. In their last effort to win the country’s heart, they will perform in front of judges Jean Marc Genereux, Tré Armstrong, Blake McGrath, Luther Brown, and guest judge Mary Murphy.
