Weeknights – 7:30pm ET/PT on Global

ET Canada will have coverage of the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards, plus Matt Damon discusses his latest thriller, Contagion and Canadian Jason Priestley visits the ET Canada studio.

CTV Ottawa’s local weekend information programs are getting a new look including changes to two of the most-watched shows in Eastern Ontario and Western Quebec.

CTV NEWS AT SIX with Kimothy Walker will expand to a full-hour program on Saturdays, beginning Saturday, Sept. 10. And, beginning Sunday, Sept. 11, REGIONAL CONTACT will move from its 6:30 p.m. timeslot on Saturdays, to 6:30 p.m. on Sundays. 

CTV Ottawa viewers have demonstrated their commitment to local news by consistently choosing CTV News programs above the competition. All of CTV Ottawa’s local news franchises are #1 in their respective timeslots including CTV NEWS AT SIX weekdays (#1) and CTV WEEKEND NEWS (#2).

“CTV Ottawa now has an opportunity to better serve local viewers with an expanded newscast on Saturdays and scheduling REGIONAL CONTACT on Sundays,” said Louis Douville, Vice-President and General Manager, CTV Ottawa. “Our research has shown us what our viewers have consistently told us time and again: that they want as much quality local news and information as possible. These changes will enable us to help deliver that.” 

Promoted as heart-and-soul television, award-winning REGIONAL CONTACT has been a mainstay for local viewers for more than three decades. Hosts Kathie Donovan and Joel Haslam will be return for their 14th consecutive season together beginning Sunday, Sept. 25. REGIONAL CONTACT showcases the talents and personalities of people living in CTV Ottawa’s vast coverage area. 

CTV Ottawa remains the only television station in Eastern Ontario and Western Quebec with more than one million viewers weekly. On March 12th, 2011 the station celebrated its 50th anniversary of broadcasting.

The CBC and the Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television (ACCT) are pleased to announce the presenter line up for the 26th ANNUAL GEMINI AWARDS taking place on September 7, 2011 at 8 p.m. (8:30 NT).

During the one-hour prime time special, host Russell Peters will be joined by the leading actors of Canada’s hottest shows, including Jason Priestley from Call Me Fitz, Yannick Bisson from Murdoch Mysteries, Callum Keith Rennie from the breakout series Shattered, Craig Olejnik from The Listener, and Hugh Dillon from Durham County and Flashpoint.

The 26th ANNUAL GEMINI AWARDS will air live on CBC in a special one-hour broadcast. With an already impressive list of presenters, expect a jam packed show, full of spectacular visuals and incredible musical performances, which are to be announced later this week.

Entertainment Tonight is on the red carpet for the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs), Ted Danson talks about his new role on CSI and ET’s Samantha Harris sits down with Matt Damon and Laurence Fishburne to discuss their upcoming film Contagion.

Disney XD gears up for an adrenaline-filled Labour Day Monday with the season two premiere of Kick Buttowski – Suburban Daredevil on Monday, September 5 at 5:30 p.m. ET.

The premiere is part of a non-stop action lineup with a Kick Buttowski – Suburban Daredevil marathon airing from 11:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m. ET, giving viewers the chance to celebrate Kick for an entire day.

Season two features several notable guest stars voicing characters, beginning with NBA All-star Dwight Howard and Entourage sweetheart Emmanuelle Chriqui in the first episode.

In the animated adventure series, Kick Buttowski – Suburban Daredevil, Kick Buttowski is an extraordinary kid determined to become the world’s greatest daredevil. Small in stature but big in heart, Kick takes on every stunt with unwavering enthusiasm. Aided by his loyal sidekick, Gunther, Kick rebels against the mundane and knows that when life throws him an obstacle, his only choice is to jump it.

In the premiere episode of the new season “Mow Money,” airing Monday, September 5 at 5:30 p.m. ET, Kick and his best friend, Gunther, are pitted against each other in grass cutting competition to earn money to buy the last remaining ticket to see their idol Rock Callahan (voiced by Dwight Howard).

In “Love Stinks!,” when Kick’s mean brother Brad gets a girlfriend, Kelly (voiced by Emmanuelle Chriqui), Kick is overjoyed with his brother’s nicer persona and time away from the cul-de-sac.

But when he discovers Kelly is using Brad for her cheerleading initiation, Kick must decide between sparing his brother from public humiliation or relishing his Brad-free life. The season premiere and episodes from the Labour Day marathon will be available on Disney XD OnDemand beginning September 6.

Other guest stars lending their voices for the second season include: professional skateboarder Tony Hawk, actors Ed O’Neill, Rico Rodriguez and Debbie Reynolds, comedian Will Forte, and ESPN SportsCenter anchor Jay Harris. New episodes of Kick Buttowski – Suburban Daredevil air Sundays at 8:30 p.m. ET beginning September 11. The season 6B premiere of DOCTOR WHO shattered its own record Saturday night, capturing a whopping 834,000 viewers, making it the biggest audience on record for SPACE.

The episode, “Let’s Kill Hitler”, ended the night as most-watched program overall on Canadian television for adult viewers (18-49 and 25-54). Peaking at 977,000 viewers, the episode attracted 1.2 million unique viewers in all.

Following at 9 p.m. ET, the DOCTOR WHO spin-off series, TORCHWOOD: MIRACLE DAY, ranked as the #2 program among adults 18-49. The episode, entitled “End of the Road”, drew in an impressive 528,000 total viewers. Both episodes of DOCTOR WHO and TORCHWOOD: MIRACLE DAY are available for viewing on

In next week’s episode of DOCTOR WHO, The Doctor receives a distress call from the scariest place in the Universe, a child’s bedroom. Terrified of the monsters in his cupboard, George’s pleas for help break through barriers of all time and space. Allaying his fears won’t be easy, even for the Doctor…because George’s monsters are real. “Night Terrors” premieres Saturday, September 3 at 8 p.m. ET, exclusively on SPACE. Beforehand, viewers show their loyalty to the companions – Amy, Rory and River Song when the one-hour special DOCTOR WHO: BEST OF THE COMPANIONS premieres at 7 p.m. ET.

Global’s Entertainment Tonight Canada today revealed details surrounding its red carpet Festival Central gala event in celebration of both its sixth birthday and the 36th Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) on Tuesday, September 13th.

This year’s birthday festivities move to King Street’s sultry and swank Spice Route. The private location – complete with a breathtaking outdoor patio – will roll out the red carpet for the Festival’s hottest celebrities to saunter down before joining the city’s tastemakers and culturalites inside the party.

After 60 years in broadcasting – and 35 years at CTV – Canada’s most-trusted news anchor vacates his role as Chief Anchor and Senior Editor of the country’s most-watched newscast and bids farewell to the millions of nightly viewers of CTV NATIONAL NEWS WITH LLOYD ROBERTSON.

Today, Robertson – the voice and face synonymous with news in Canada – posted a personal letter to Canadians on, with his thoughts on entering a new and exciting chapter of his life.

“I can scarcely believe it’s finally happening,” Robertson’s letter starts. “It’s been a wonderful ride! I have learned so much more about this fascinating country we inhabit and the qualities and idiosyncrasies of its provinces, territories and peoples. Travelling our land, talking to people from all segments of our society, I’ve come to understand our uniqueness.”

In the weeks leading up to his final newscast, hundreds viewers from coast to coast to coast have flocked to, paying tribute to Robertson on the dedicated, interactive website with hundreds of personal messages, memories and highlights of his storied career.

Charlie Sheen may be driving this train, but Comedy central is pulling out all the stops!  

The network unveiled today the first wave of Roasters, who will be joining Roast Master Seth MacFarlane for an epic evening…let the games begin!  

Additional Roasters and talent to be in attendance will be announced shortly. The “Comedy Central Roast Of Charlie Sheen” (#SheenRoast) will tape at Sony Studios in Los Angeles on Saturday, September 10 and will premiere on Monday, September 19 at 10:00 p.m. ET/PT on The Comedy Network in Canada.

Roasters brave enough to take on the warlock will include TMZ’s master of celebrity gossip Harvey Levin, “Jackass” star Steve-O and legendary heavyweight boxing champion Mike Tyson.
