Lady Gaga - Born this Way: An eTalk primetime special Premieres May 21 at 7 p.m. on CTV

From the world she creates backstage, to the controversy surrounding her most recent album Born This Way, pop culture icon Lady Gaga holds nothing back during her candid, exclusive interviews with ETALK anchor Ben Mulroney in LADY GAGA – BORN THIS WAY: AN ETALK PRIMETIME SPECIAL, premiering Saturday, May 21 at 7 p.m. ET on CTV (visit CTV.ca to confirm local broadcast times).

Mulroney has exclusive backstage access to the star before her recent Toronto concert, and then sits down with her for a one-on-one interview the day after her performance.

An encore of the special airs Sunday, May 22 at 12 p.m. ET on CTV and 4 p.m. ET on MuchMore, as well as Wednesday, May 25 at 8 p.m. ET on E! (visit MuchMore.ca and eonline.ca to confirm local broadcast times). LADY GAGA – BORN THIS WAY: AN ETALK PRIMETIME SPECIAL will also be available on demand following the CTV broadcast on the CTV Video Player at CTV.ca.

“Lady Gaga is one of the most intriguing pop stars of our generation,” said Morley Nirenberg, Director of Production/Executive Producer, ETALK. “Worshiped by her fans and never afraid to speak her mind, ETALK brings viewers a fascinating look at a fascinating star, and a glimpse into her backstage world and life on the road.”

With exclusive access backstage before Lady Gaga’s Toronto concert, Wardrobe Supervisor Tony Villanueva takes ETALK cameras to a rarely-seen place – Gaga’s quick-change area. With 13 costume changes throughout her shows, Villanueva’s team can get the star out of one costume and into another in as little as 60 seconds, with four people working together to get her into her costume for “Paparazzi.”

Lady Gaga’s backstage environment is like no other. From her dressing room “sanctuary,” filled with relaxing white furniture, china cups for her tea and fan art on the walls, Lady Gaga admits that she requires a feeling of home and quietness behind-the-scenes so she can stay grounded. And for the constant inspiration she gets from her fans and family on the road, Lady Gaga travels with a make-shift recording studio, with posters of musical inspirations Mötley Crüe, Poison and the Sex Pistols adorning the walls.

During her sit down interview with Mulroney, Lady Gaga discusses everything from nearly going bankrupt during the first leg of her monster ball tour, to her perception of beauty. She also talks about her passionate relationship with her fans, stating to Mulroney, “I have this really weird ‘sick sense.’ It’s like my fans are this disease I don’t ever want to recover from.”

Throughout the hour-long HD broadcast, “Ben Goes Gaga” and will be live tweeting about his interview with Lady Gaga and answering fan questions. Viewers can follow Mulroney at @BenMulroney1976 for updates during the 7 p.m. ET airing, with @etalkCTV retweeting his comments during the 7 p.m. PT broadcast.

Before the premiere of LADY GAGA – BORN THIS WAY: AN ETALK PRIMETIME SPECIAL, Lady Gaga fans can take part in a special edition of Twitter Trivia through @CTV_Television on Thursday, May 19 between 1 – 5 p.m. ET. Anyone following @CTV_Television will have the chance to answer trivia questions about the singer, and win an ETALK prize pack.

This morning, Forbes named Lady Gaga the World’s Most Powerful Celebrity on their 2011 Celebrity 100 list, and her new album Born This Way will be available in stores and online on Monday, May 23.
