First Survivor winner begins prison sentence

Original Survivor winner Richard Hatch has begun his nine month prison sentence for violating the terms of his probation.

The reality TV personality, who was victorious in the very first season of Survivor, was convicted in 2006 for tax evasion referring to the $1m he won on the reality series.

Hatch spent three years in prison for the crime and this year was ordered back to prison for failing to file his 2001 tax return.

Watch checked himself into a New York detention centre on Friday and is due for release on December 12 this year.
