Corus Entertainment’s YTV announced today that Mr. Young has been picked up for another season. Thunderbird Films will commence production of 26 new episodes in July, bringing the total number of episodes to 52. The live-action series premiered on March 1st and has quickly become one of the network’s top rated series.

“We knew that Mr. Young would be a hit and we are thrilled that the series has taken off and found a following so quickly,” said Jocelyn Hamilton, Vice President, Original Programming, Kids, Comedy, Drama. “The show is fun and wacky, but most of all, it’s relatable to our audience; its fan base is constantly growing and is comprised of both kids and their parents. Mr. Young is a great addition to our successful line-up of comedy programming.”

“We’re absolutely overjoyed that Mr. Young has become such an instant success story; it is a tribute to the creative vision of Executive Producer Dan Signer, who heads up a top notch team of writers, and to our highly talented cast and crew,” said Michael Shepard, President, Thunderbird Films.

Filmed in front of a live studio audience in Vancouver, Mr. Young stars Brendan Meyer as Adam Young, a whiz-kid-turned-teen genius who hit the books hard enough to get into university at the age of 9. Now, at the tender age of 14, he’s headed back to high school – as a teacher. Being the same age as his students, Adam finds himself trapped between two worlds – coping with his co-workers, who happen to be twice his age, while teaching his best friend, the girl he has a crush on, and the class bully. With one foot in the lunch room and the other foot in the staff room, it’s Mr. Young’s social life that’s being put to the test.

Mr. Young airs on Tuesdays at 6:30 p.m. ET/PT on YTV.

Viewers can also test their know-how and strive to be a virtual “teacher’s pet” by playing Extra Credit while watching the show. Found at YTV.com, Extra Credit is one of the first games of its kind in Canada – a dual screen experience encouraging viewers to log in to the game during the show to answer trivia questions based on the episode. Top scores for each show are posted online at YTV.com.

Corus Entertainment’s Nelvana Enterprises is the international distribution agent for Mr. Young, while Nelvana and Thunderbird are co-distributing the series in the United States.
