William Shatner to receive Canada's GG honour

William Shatner is set to be honoured by Canada’s governor general with a lifetime achievement award in May.

The Montreal-born actor and Oscar-winning composer Howard Shore will both receive the awards at the 2011 Governor General’s Performing Arts Awards for Lifetime Artistic Achievement.

Shatner will be honoured for his career in the arts which has spanned six decades, with his highest achievement undoubtedly being his portrayal of Captain Kirk on the Star Trek TV series.

The GG honours will be awards on May 14 in Ottawa.
