Kid in a Candy Store Premieres April 6 on Food Network Canada

Join Adam Gertler, the epitome of a big kid in a candy store, as he travels coast to coast and proves that some of the coolest, quirkiest and tastiest treats come from the world of sweets.

In this six-episode series, he’ll visit the people and places that are creating whimsical confections and desserts to satisfy any sweet tooth.

From wild and wacky twists on traditional favourites, like deep-fried cupcakes or sweet beet ice cream, to the most scrumptious and creative candy, cakes and frozen snacks in the country, this sweet joyride down the dessert aisle will make anyone feel like a kid again.

A bit about Adam: Whether as a cook, server, or caterer, food has always played an important role in Adam’s life.  

From 2004 until 2006 Adam was Executive Chef of Philadelphia’s The Smoked Joint, a barbeque restaurant co-owned by his brother, Keith. In 2008, Food Network viewers got their first glimpse of Adam as a contestant on season four of The Next Food Network Star.  

Adam also hosted the Food Network series Will Work for Food in 2009. Now, as the host of Kid in a Candy Store, he travels the United States to uncover the best, most outrageous and most loved sweet treats.

Over the years, Adam has also channeled his love for food and acting into volunteer work, from teaching theater to grade-school children to catering for non-profit organizations like the Philadelphia Red Cross. Adam grew up in Commack, N.Y. and now lives in Los Angeles.
