The Amazing Race chalks up 2.7 million viewers Sunday on CTV

They’ve all run the race before, and 2.66 million viewers tuned in to see how some of their favourite teams would fare during Sunday night’s season premiere of THE AMAZING RACE: UNFINISHED BUSINESS on CTV.

Airing for the first time in HD, the series grew 14% among total viewers compared to last winter’s season average on CTV. The premiere also delivered double digit growth in all key demos: +34% (A18-34), +23% (A18-49), and +29% (A25-54).

With a reach of 4.67 million viewers and peaking at 3.15 million at 8:53 p.m. ET, UNFINISHED BUSINESS was Canada’s most-watched television program on Sunday with total viewers and all key adult demos in the key Toronto and Vancouver markets.

In Sunday’s premiere episode “Head Down and Hold On,” 11 teams set out from Palm Springs, California before heading to Sydney, Australia. The teams edidn’t get off to an easy start as one group got an automatic U-Turn forcing them to complete both elements of the first Detour they faced, and everyone had to brave a shark tank to obtain a clue. With cowboys Jet and Cord in last place, the remaining 10 teams were told to keep racing after checking in at Shelly Beach.

In next week’s new episode of THE AMAZING RACE: UNFINISHED BUSINESS, airing at a special time of 7 p.m. ET on CTV on Sunday, February 27, the teams continue to out race each other in Manly, Australia.
