MTV to stick by Skins

MTV will stick by its controversial North American version of Skins despite plenty of public outcry over the explicit nature of it.

The series, shot in Toronto last year, has copped criticism from the Parents Television Council who claims the show borders of child pornography.

“I think it’s always good when people are talking about you and people are certainly talking about (Skins),” MTV programing chief David Janollari told the Hollywood Reporter.

“Certainly Skins is a bolder step in the scripted direction for us,” said Janollari. “You’re always going to have haters. And MTV is no stranger to that kind of reaction, most recently with Jersey Shore and going all the way back to Jackass.”

Saturday Night Live has recently spoofed the series , to which Janollari is all for.

“It’s always flattering when you’re spoofed by SNL two weeks into your series run,” he said. “That’s great and that really helps.”
