Global wins Sunday night thanks to SAG Awards

Global’s exclusive broadcast of the 2011 Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards deserves an award of its own.

Not only did it put a lock on the country (Ind 2+) but it experienced meteoric growth since the first Global broadcast in 2010, indicating the continuing rise in importance of the SAG Awards.

Highlights include:

· Year to year nationally, 54% increase (Ind 2+) and a 95% increase in the key A18-49 demo

· Global owned Sunday night prime time (8pm-11pm, Ind 2+), beating CTV by 38% and Citytv by 70%

· Global’s broadcast of the SAG Awards also won the night in the key markets of Toronto and Vancouver (A18-49)

· Year to year, Toronto was up 67% (A18-49) and Vancouver was up 20% (A18-49)

A little more than halfway through awards season, Global anticipates another strong showing when it broadcasts The GRAMMY Awards on Sunday, February 13, which will be preceded by ET Canada’s Red Carpet Special.
