Filming underway on YTV's new comedy Life With Boys

Canadian-based media and entertainment company Corus Entertainment, award-winning Nelvana Studio and family network YTV announced today that principal photography on Life with Boys is set to begin next Tuesday, February 22.

Created by Michael Poryes (Hannah Montana, That’s So Raven), all 26 half-hour episodes will be shot in Toronto through to July. The series is scheduled to premiere in Canada on YTV in September 2011.

Life with Boys follows 13 year-old Tess Foster as she navigates her way through the turmoil of teen life with the only touchstones at home being her overprotective dad, a widower, and three brothers.

Torri Webster will bring Tess to life on screen with Sandy Jobin-Bevans as her father Jack, a high school coach, Nathan McLeod as her heartthrob brother Gabe, Michael Murphy as her studious twin brother Sam and Jake Goodman as her eight year-old brother Spencer. Rounding out the cast is Madison Pettis as Tess’ best friend Allie.

Creator Michael Poryes is collaborating with Steven Peterman (executive producer of Hannah Montana) and Douglas Lieblein (co-executive producer of Hannah Montana) on this project. Life with Boys will be directed by Steve Wright and Stefan Scaini.

Tess adores the four important men in her life despite their four totally different perspectives – they are boys after all. Faced with the constant struggle of trying to understand and be understood by those around her, Tess is challenged with everything from her friends having crushes on her brothers to her brothers giving her heat about her dates – testosterone rules the roost. Despite the shortcomings of being the only girl in a male household, the boys can sometimes offer some solid advice. Whether it’s building up the courage to talk to a boy, dealing with an obnoxious one, or coping with the repercussions of being the best girl on the boys wrestling team, Life with Boys sheds a comedic light on many of life’s moments.

“We’ve brought together a superbly talented cast and crew, and we’re thrilled to bring the unique vision of Michael Poryes to Life with Boys,” said Jocelyn Hamilton, Vice President, Original Programming, Kids, Comedy, Drama, Corus Television. “With a solid head on her shoulders and a charming personality, Torri Webster’s character Tess is a terrific example for tweens and this series is a natural fit for YTV.”

“Steven Peterman, Douglas Leiblein and I are very excited to embark upon this creative journey with a cast who we believe both parents and kids will be able to relate and connect with on screen,” said Michael Poryes, creator and executive producer of Life with Boys. “Entertaining the kids at home is a great thing but creating a series that gives mom and dad a laugh too – that’s our ultimate goal.”

“We are delighted to bring Michael’s latest project to the international market as he has a proven track record for creating fun, entertaining and quality television for tweens,” said Helion Picture’s Managing Director, Steven Bawol.

Nelvana Enterprises will distribute Life with Boys in Canada, Latin America, Africa, Asia (excluding Japan) and France. Classic Media and Helion Pictures will cover distribution across all media in all other territories worldwide.
